Who wins GE13 depends on who pleases the Rakyat, not astrology or numerology

Who wins GE13 depends on who pleases the Rakyat, not astrology or numerology
As we draw closer to our 13th General Election day – a date that is still in wraps of sorts shamefully, many fortune tellers and astrologers (as reported in The Star newspaper, 4 September 2012) are pinning BN’s victory on the dates and planets.
Indeed editors need to be told that this piece of ‘news’ is very Fourth-World indeed for a nation pretending to achieve First-World status in seven years time.
Let us get real for once, can we. Here is a MUST DO list that will qualify a political party to emerge victorious. This list is not BN motivated or colored by Opposition agenda. Politicians must have the honesty, courage and integrity to recognize that it is the rakyat’s (people's) wish-list.
Rakyat's wish list
1. The Altantuya murder case must be resolved beyond all reasonable doubt and the villains and accomplices – no matter who and how powerful they are, be brought to justice.
2. All the alleged and on-going investigations involving charges as well as suspicions of corrupt dealings must be resolved and the culprits punished without fear or favor.
3. Race and religion must take a back seat in the political landscape of ideologies and priorities.
4. An agenda to return to citizens what rightfully belongs to humanity as per the global standards of developed world principles must be championed with doable action plans. This covers the issue of equitable distribution of wealth, equal opportunity to education and merit based employment opportunities.
5. Set the index to how much of wealth a politician can accumulate and bask in upon taking office. Declare all assets BEFORE going into campaign mode.
6. Have the courage and earnest determination to stop using the government agencies and institutions to defend and procure unfair political lead advantage in the race to win the elections.
7. Declare all funding sources for your campaign tactics. Private funding as well as donations from the rakyat is acceptable but the misappropriation of public funds and wealth for political missions cannot be tolerated.
8. Do not use public funds and public time and public resources to pull smokescreens and plough propaganda spins to secure a winning margin. On the contrary, speak the truth, provide convincing nation-building plans and offer solutions that address on-going concerns affecting the political, economic, social and environmental concerns that ultimately affect the ordinary Joes in town.
9. Tell us how you will dismantle all the mega and self-glorification projects that have gone wrong. tell us hoiw you will re-build a 'New Malaysia' that does justice to all the abused wealth of this nation in the past.
Rise to the challenge if you want to defend Putrajaya, BN
The current Prime Minister and his entourage of politicians and patronizes must admit that they face the brunt of all of the above listings and must rise to the challenge. Do not attempt to make politics sound complicated and convoluted.
Opposition parties must get their act together as that ‘togetherness’ is vital for they are a coalition of political parties. Otherwise, drop your convenience marriage and get going on your individual party’s merits if you will.
Meanwhile, BN’s formula of race-based coalition is draconic and dinosaurus. It must dismantle and re-appraise if it wants to ride the election season convincingly.
Now, wonder what would be the response of readers; the reaction of BN leaders; and the position that will be taken by the Opposition?
Perhaps, the readers’ comments will help drive home the ultimate truth, i.e. in the expected 13th GE, the winner takes it all. Anything less will spell chaos for Malaysia.

What the stars say of the elections

PETALING JAYA: The “auspicious” election dates for Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, based on Vedic astrology, are Nov 5, 14 and 23.
According to seventh generation astrologer Master Yuvaraj Sowma of Chennai, Tamil Nadu in India, the dates were regarded suitable when read with the Prime Minister’s date of birth – July 23, 1953.
Yuvaraj said the plus point for Najib was that he shared the same moon of Virchika (Scorpio) with Barisan Nasional, formed on July 1, 1974.
Yuvaraj said November and December appeared to be the most favourable period for Najib to call for the general election because the planet Jupiter would have a strong positive influence on his zodiac sign.
“The good period continues until May 2013 and the Prime Minister should take advantage of the favourable planetary position,” said Yuvaraj.
He said that although Barisan was expected to face a tough challenge because the planet Saturn would also have some similar influence in November, the ruling coalition would emerge better than in the last general election.
“This is simply because the ruling stars governing Najib’s horoscope are strong and favourable,” he said.
Yuvaraj said the 11th month symbolises “gain and divinity” and would also be the best period to woo voters because they would be in a more cheerful mood.
Meanwhile, feng shui experts are of the view that an election after November would be more favourable for Barisan.
Master David Koh, principal consultant of the Malaysian Institute of Geomancy, who had predicted that 2012 was not the best year for an election, said elections after November would be favourable to the ruling party.
“When I made the calculations for 2012 late last year, I had said the later the elections are called, the better the winning chances for the current government,” he said.
Koh added that it would still be an “uphill task” for Barisan to secure victory.
He said the result would be more in Barisan’s favour if elections were called between December 2012 and March 2013.
“The winter solstice begins around Dec 22. This can be considered a crossing into the next year, which I expect to be better than 2012,” he said.
Numerologist Marinah Ng said an early election could result in a landslide victory for either side.
“The arrangements of the numbers imply that 2012 is a year of change. Many politicians might be replaced, but it is anyone’s guess on whose victory it will be,” said Ng, adding that the numbers for 2013 implied peace and unity. - Star
