Umno man's fingers could not be saved, says friend

Umno man's fingers could not be saved, says friend
Despite undergoing surgery, Kepong Umno Youth chief Datuk Norizan Ali is understood to have lost the battle to have the four fingers of his left hand reattached.
Norizan’s fingers were almost severed on Monday following a vicious assault by two unidentified men outside his house at Taman Dagang in Ampang early Monday.
He was rushed to the Ampang Hospital where doctors operated on him and attempted to reattach his fingers.
A close friend told the New Straits Times that Norizan’s fingers could not be saved.
The friend described Norizan as a good man and not the kind of person to draw animosity or attract enemies. However, Norizan
felt he was being watched by unidentified individuals especially when returning home late.
“Norizan told me that he had spotted several vehicles in his housing area when I attended his open house two weeks ago. However, he did not think much of it,” he said.
Norizan, a 41-year-old businessman, had parked his car about 20 metres from his double-storey house in Taman Dagang after returning home about 3.30am from watching football at a nearby mamak stall.
While walking towards his house, two unidentified men armed with parang, believed to be Indonesians, suddenly appeared and slashed his abdomen and his left hand.
Norizan’s wife and three children were awakened by his screams before a neighbour alerted police. None of Norizan’s belongings were missing and no weapons were recovered from the scene.
Police are still trying to establish a motive and had recorded statements from five people, including Norizan’s wife Datin Roslinda Kamaruddin and several neighbours.
