Crime - jitters felt by investors, too

Foreign investors are concerned over the security situation in the country, said International Trade and Industry Minister Mustapa Mohamed.

NONEIn his opening remarks at a ministry-hosted dialogue with several foreign chambers of commerce and police, Mustapa (centre, in picture) said this concern was raised by investors several times in the past year in several dialogues.

"The reason we are meeting is that in a few dialogues before with chambers of commerce (we found) issues of security have an impact on investment.

"I promised a meeting to deal with these issues...we are here to see what else we can do to improve the situation in the country," he said.

Also present at the dialogue, presently ongoing, was inspector-general of police Ismail Omar and top officers like criminal investigation department (CID) deputy director Hadi Ho Abdullah, Kuala Lumpur police chief Mohmad Salleh and Kuala Lumpur CID chief Ku Chin Wah.

Also present are representatives from the Japanese, South Korean, European, American, German and Taiwanese chambers of commerce.
