A FILM to portray false water shortage: Another BN drama to SABOTAGE SELANGOR?

A FILM to portray false water shortage: Another BN drama to SABOTAGE S'GOR?
News reports of a plot to portray a false water crisis in Selangor has sparked outrage against Prime Miister Najib Razak's government, which has been embroiled in several media scandals including a film that allegedly blames the May 13, 1969 racial riots on a Opposition leader.
According to Malaysiakini, a television commercial is being filmed in secrecy at an apartment block in Section 17 in Petaling Jaya today. The producers were also tight-lipped about the details of the advertisement, refusing to tell the name of their client.
About 200 residents have been recruited to appear as extras in the filming of the staged water shortage. While the residents were aware that the story line of the ad concerned water shortage, they were hazy about the details. One of the scenes seen being shot was a large crowd queuing to receive water from a supply lorry.
Barred from site, threats to sue
The producers of the advertisement also barred reporters from entering the filming site and threatened to sue should there be publication.
It is an open secret that Najib's Umno party has vowed to wrest back the Selangor state government at all costs, and this latest episode will do little to help the embattled premier regain the moral high ground.
Najib himself is already under heavy fire for several 'doctored' photos released by national news agency Bernama that tried to depict him as a 'crowd puller', able to attract a much larger number of people to his events than the actual situation.
Selangor, now led by PKR Mentri Besar Khalid Ibrahim, is locked in a takeover tussle with water distributor Syabas, a company controlled by a powerful Umno division leader Rozali Ismail.
Khalid has initiated moves to takeover Syabas which he has slammed for trying to thwart his state government's plans to improve water distribution and supply in the state. Rozali has shot back, insisting the only way for Selangor to resolve its water problems was to build the multi-billion ringgit Langat 2 treatment plant.
Just weeks ago, the BN federal government was accused of sponsoring a film Tanda Putera that allegedly showed DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang as urinating on a flag pole, and thereby insinuating that he instigated the May 13 riots that left scores dead on the streets of Kuala Lumpur.
